Balıkesir University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of
Clinical Sciences;
Our
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, of which we are a part is committed to
nurturing future veterinary professionals who are not only equipped with strong
academic foundations but also embody the highest ethical standards and
practical competencies required in the field of animal health. With the strong
traditions provided by our institutional history and our vision focused on
continuous improvement, we are working with all our might to train
veterinarians who have a deep understanding of the interaction between science,
society, and nature; who can think critically; and who are committed to ethical
values.
Our
educational programs are based on current, modern, and scientific principles
that combine theory with practice. We not only provide our students with
knowledge but also equip them with practical skills to enhance their
professional competence. Our faculty's comprehensive curriculum covers a wide
range of subjects including animal health and welfare, clinical sciences, basic
veterinary sciences, zootechnics and nutrition, food hygiene and technology,
preparing our students to effectively serve in all areas of the veterinary
profession upon graduation.
One of the
most important characteristics of our faculty is the strong bond we have with
our students. We adopt a student-centered approach that supports their
individual talents and goals. We support both the academic and personal
development of our students through academic advising, opportunities to
actively participate in research projects, social and cultural events, and
career planning services. It is our primary goal to help each of our students
realize their potential.
Research
activities are one of the cornerstones of our faculty. Our academic staff
actively contributes to knowledge production through scientific publications
and national and international projects, while we also involve our students in
research processes, enabling them to embrace scientific thinking at an early
age. In this way, our faculty has transformed from a mere educational
institution into a research center that produces and shares knowledge.
Our Faculty's
Veterinary Education, Research, and Application Hospital is both an integral
part of our education and training processes and a healthcare institution open
to community service. Our hospital provides diagnostic, treatment, and
preventive services for animal health, serving a wide range of patients
including domestic, farm, exotic, and wild animals. This allows our students to
integrate real-life case experiences into their education. Furthermore, we
conduct numerous scientific events, healthcare services, and community
activities; thus, our faculty makes a difference at both the local and regional
levels.
The
Veterinary Education, Research, and Practice Hospital affiliated with our
faculty provides an exceptional clinical training environment. This facility
serves as both a teaching resource and a vital service provider for animal
health care, offering diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services for
companion animals, livestock, and exotic species. The extensive hands-on
experience students gain through clinical rotations and case studies is a
defining element of their professional development.
Through
international collaborations and exchange programs, our students and academic
staff have the opportunity to gain academic experience on a global scale.
Programs like Erasmus+ enable international experiences, fostering interaction
with different cultures and educational systems, and strengthening our
faculty's international networks. These efforts are consistent with our goal of
becoming a world-class veterinary faculty. Furthermore, we aim to develop new
collaborations that will support mutual interaction between students and
academics from all over the world.
Our faculty
graduates can work in a wide range of professional fields, from clinical
veterinary medicine to public health, laboratory sciences to food control.
Their strong academic foundation, combined with practical skills, enables our
graduates to play an active role in contributing to public health. Our
graduates, who represent us with their achievements, are the most important
indicators of our faculty's educational vision.
Our faculty,
which meets all the requirements of the veterinary profession and creates a
strong impact in the fields of research, education, and community service,
unites our students, graduates, and stakeholders around a common mission. We
would be delighted to see you in the rich academic atmosphere of our faculty;
and we wish to walk together towards a stronger, more knowledgeable, and more
innovative future.
Sincerely,
on behalf of our entire academic team,
Head
of Department
